When Joseph (age 65) came to the community health center 33km from Madikeri at Gaudalli village for a harsh pain in the chest, he was serious.
The medical official at the center ran through an ECG of the patient and circulated it on a group on WhatsApp to immediately receive recommendation from well-known cardiologists on how to get on with the case. Timely involvement assisted the doctor save Joseph, who was later moved to a close by hospital for further treatment in Mysuru.
Cardiology At Doorsteps, the WhatsApp group, is a collective of more than 250 doctors operating in different CHC (community health centers) and PHC (primary health centers) all over Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, and Hassan districts. It assists patients, even from distant villages, get in touch with expert judgment on cardiac problems free of cost and any time.
